Sequential Coasters in Eastern Black Walnut.

The Black Walnut for this series was sourced from a local sawyer in Cockeysville, Maryland from trees that were storm felled or culled from dead trees on the sawyers' property. After felling, the tree was bucked into logs that were milled flat sawn and air dried for two months before being kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8%. The boards were then stabilized in an open-air barn before coming to our workshop where the wood was allowed to restabilize to the working environment for five months before being used to make these coasters.

Each set is unique and no sets are alike. Therefore, only one of each set is offered.

The coasters come in a matched set of four and are roughly 100mm x 100mm (4" square) and about 10mm thick. The coasters are handmade and hand finished using a mixture of polymerized tung oil and beeswax. A reapplication of finish is ideal twice a year, depending on your use.
