The granddaddy of coffee brewers!
When it comes to home coffee makers, none is as iconic as the French Press. A simple immersion brewer that uses a metal mesh attached to a plunger to separate the ground coffee from the brewed coffee. First patented in Italy by designer Attilio Calimani in 1929, the caffettiera a stantuffo is used worldwide.
One of the most popular versions of the press pot is this Chambord design by Danish company Bodum. Made of high-temperature glass and stainless steel, it is one of the best build press pots available today and have always been a mainstay at Spro.
A full immersion brewer, the press pot steeps the coffee in water brewing a coffee that is rich, with body and a thicker mouthfeel than filter brewers. We recommend a coarse grind and a four minute brew time.
The Bodum Chambord is available in four sizes: 12 ounce, 17 ounce, 34 ounce and 51 ounce. For most people who want to brew just a cup for themselves, we think the 17 ounce is ideal. While couples who prefer to drink together will find the 34 ounce version to suit their needs best.
